Join our community

As much as Community Sponsorship is about resettling refugee families, it is also about building community. Throughout the journey, from building a group to supporting the family to rebuild their lives, community spirit is the building block of sponsorship.

At Sponsor Refugees, we actively encourage volunteers and interested members of the public to join this growing community where community sponsorship groups share experiences, best practice, ideas, tips, and resources.

Lunch & Learns

"The Lunch & Learns have built the national sponsorship community and made us all feel a part of the bigger picture...They are so vital for not feeling alone as a group on this journey" - Catherine Griffiths, Croeso Menai

Our biweekly Lunch & Learns give Community Sponsorship groups a forum to discuss topics that are relevant for welcoming and settling a refugee family in the UK. Topics include

- How To Build a strong Group
- Working with Local Authorities
- Universal Credit
- ESOL and language
- Employment
- Preparing for the End of the Sponsorship

Scottish Community Sponsorship Network

As the number of community sponsorship groups started growing across Scotland, we decided to set up the Scottish Community Sponsorship Network. We come together once a month to offer support and advice to groups as they navigate the process which is slightly different in that region.
We also have a Slack channel where we update each other on our progress, changes to the scheme, tips and other useful information.

Click the button below to sign up to the Network.

Reset's Networking Events

Reset are planning a series of online session hosted on Zoom for Groups in different regions and nations of the UK. They will be providing an outline for the session, posing questions and themes for you to talk about but the direction of the event will be shaped by you! This will be an informal opportunity to hear from and connect with other Groups in your region.

Become a Community Sponsorship Champion

Are you passionate about Community Sponsorship, and want to be at the heart of growing the movement? Do you have direct experience of welcoming a family through the scheme?

We’d love you to join our team of Community Sponsorship Champions! Our champions support by acting as mentors to new groups, sharing their expertise, speaking at events, and organising outreach activities.

The role is very flexible - you can get involved as much or as little as you like, and participate in the ways you find most exciting.

We provide lots of support, including group check-ins, training and supervision.
